17. Goals of the Curriculum | The curriculum aims to:
· provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills for qualified professional work according to the current professional standard of Fashion Designer’s Assistant IV. · develop prerequisites for qualified basic fashion design education corresponding to the principles of higher education and requirements of labor market · develop necessary ethical, aesthetical and ecological values · direct to value the role of art and design in society · develop creativity and innovation · support the development of cultural world-view · provide knowledge and practical skills for modelling clothes for various purposes, for their design and sewing and for production organization · provide knowledge and skills for further studies at Master’s level. |
18. Outcomes of study | The student who has gone through the curriculum
· can apply the acquired knowledge in professional work, is ready to work at enterprises dealing with fashion design · is cooperative and displays initiative in executing designs and bears responsibility for his work. · orientates in professional design and art literature and in corresponding terminology. · can gather, analyze and critically select and find professional information and to interpret it creatively. · recognizes interdisciplinary connections between various areas of application · has broad-based knowledge of the fashion design profession and systematic overview of the basic concepts of the specialty, is able to formulate issues associated with the profession, analyze them and offer solutions. · can design and develop new garment collections both for private clients and sewing industry considering historical and cultural background · can when designing a collection select and apply appropriate methods and technologies and CAD/CAM systems. · masters the communication skills necessary for work as well as communication technologies · is ready to participate actively in civil society and be tolerant towards various attitudes and values · is able to explain orally and in writing in the study language as well as in one foreign language issues associated with the profession and participate in discussions · can estimate the role of professional activity and its results in the society considering social and ethical aspects · student gone through the curriculum is competent to work as a fashion designer-stylist or designer’s assistant in garment industry (sewing factories or private ateliers), to execute unique author’s collections or work as a costume designer · is able to perfect permanently his professional skills and working knowledge independently and continue studies in the acquired profession. |

Develop general skills in the subject of art. Provide fundamentals of the different periods in the world’s and Estonian art history. Develop skills of orienting in the historical and modern directions of art and his/her specialty. | ||
Learning outcomes | Student can correctly estimate the historical period of a piece of art and the style. Student knows the names of spectacular artists from the history of art. Student has acquired comprehensive vocabulary, which allows to express his/her opinion in discussions about art history and his/her professional work. | ||
