17. Goals of the Curriculum The curriculum aims to:

·         provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills for qualified professional work according to the current professional standard of Fashion Designer’s Assistant IV.

·         develop prerequisites for qualified basic fashion design education corresponding to the principles of higher education and requirements of labor market

·         develop necessary ethical, aesthetical and ecological values

·         direct to value the role of art and design in society

·         develop creativity and innovation

·         support the development of cultural world-view

·         provide knowledge and practical skills  for modelling clothes for various purposes, for their design and sewing and  for production organization

·         provide knowledge and skills for further studies at Master’s level.

18. Outcomes of study          The student who has gone through the curriculum

·         can apply the acquired knowledge in professional work, is ready to work at enterprises dealing with fashion design

·         is cooperative and displays initiative in executing designs and bears responsibility for his work.

·         orientates in professional design and art literature and in corresponding terminology.

·         can gather, analyze and critically select and find professional information and to interpret it creatively.

·         recognizes interdisciplinary connections between various areas of application

·         has broad-based knowledge of the fashion design profession and systematic overview of the basic concepts of the specialty, is able to formulate issues associated with the profession, analyze them and offer solutions.

·         can design and develop new garment collections both for private clients and sewing industry considering historical and cultural background

·         can when designing a collection select and apply appropriate methods and technologies and CAD/CAM systems.

·         masters the communication skills necessary for work as well as communication technologies

·         is ready to participate actively in civil society and be tolerant towards various attitudes and values

·         is able to explain orally and in writing in the study language as well as in one foreign language issues associated with the profession and participate in discussions

·         can  estimate the role of professional activity and its results in the society considering social and ethical aspects

·         student gone through the curriculum is competent to work as a fashion designer-stylist or designer’s assistant in garment industry (sewing factories or private ateliers), to execute unique author’s collections  or work as a costume designer

·         is able to perfect permanently his professional skills and working knowledge independently and continue studies in the acquired profession.

Objectives

Develop general skills in the subject of art. Provide fundamentals of the different periods in the world’s and Estonian art history. Develop skills of orienting in the historical and modern directions of art and his/her specialty.
Learning outcomes Student can correctly estimate the historical period of a piece of art and the style. Student knows the names of spectacular artists from the history of art. Student has acquired comprehensive vocabulary, which allows to express his/her opinion in discussions about art history and his/her professional work.

Objectives

Develop general artistic-professional skills and skills for correctly expressing his/her own ideas using different figural tools. Acquisition of the terminology of art criticism.

Learning outcomes

Student has acquired different figural tools and artistic methods to express his/her ideas by drawings or figures. Student can correctly picture the proportions, colours and surface of different objects.

Student has acquired technological methods and sewing techniques, can apply modern computational systems in garment design. Knows the technological and material base of garment industry. Is able to design and present the examples of fashionable garments.

Objectives

Provide necessary knowledge in at least one foreign language, which allows successful self-development by means of scientific and technical literature. Teach elementary communication skills on the professional level and skills to formulate his/her ideas, and to understand questions and answers in foreign language.
Learning outcomes Student is able to acquire specialty related information in the foreign language. Ability to communicate, compile documents and give orders in the foreign language. Can participate in the international events, performances, practical or continue studies abroad.

Module VII. Practice

Objectives

Confirmation of the theoretical knowledge and application of the practical skills in the independent work. Getting acquainted to the organisation in the real work processes. Working with the modern techniques and technologies used in garment industry. Work methods applied in a collective and with clients.

Learning outcomes

Getting acquainted to the structure and processes of the enterprise. Ability to design garment models, and prepare for the production. Ability to prepare the documentation and materials to present his/her garment models or collection. Ability to work in a collective Ability to work in a collective, consider the critics, be tolerating to the other’s opinion. Independence and ability to solve stylistic and artistic tasks. Can exploit modern infotechnological tools and computer programmes.
Assessment of module completion: credit test. The student submits the filled in report of the practicals and portfolio of the completed artworks

Based on the general assessment system according to courses.

Principles of selection: As regards courses at liberty, the faculty recommends selecting such courses at other Faculties of EuroAcademy or other higher education institutions that support the acquisition of the major.

 

Graduation Thesis MPEN7000 Volume: 13.0 ECTS
Objectives Assessment of the knowledge acquired in the process of studies. Development of the individual and independence by selection and realisation of the subject of graduation thesis.

Learning outcomes

Independent selection of the subject and object of the graduation thesis. Ability to analyse the actuality and perspective of the models of the graduation thesis. Ability to express and realise his/her ideas both artistically and technically, and to perform his/her work. Ability to plan the professional activities. Ability to adequately estimate and consider the critics of the supervisor. Ability to work with the clients.

Assessment

Graded assessment. Grade given at the defence A, B, C, D, E according to the established criteria. Assessment takes place at the public defence.
