17. Goals of the Curriculum The curriculum aims to:

·         provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills and preconditions for qualified professional work according to the current professional standard of Interior Architect IV,to be able to create, consult, assess and commission designs for parts of buildings, to visualize and integrate into the whole the reality based on the latter in all their aspects – environmental, economic, creative, constructive, technological, social, cultural and legal ones

·         acquisition of professional knowledge and practical skills is carried out through theoretical subjects and various practices and practical courses.

·         develop necessary ethical, aesthetical and ecological values, support the creation of the cultural world- view

·         direct to value the role of art and design in society and develop creativity and innovation.

·         support the development of cultural world-view

provide knowledge and skills for further studies at Master’s level.

18. Outcomes of study            The student who has gone through the curriculum

·         is able to apply the acquired knowledge in professional work, is qualified for working as an interior architect in all establishments and enterprises associated with interior architecture, as well as a free-lancer in his/her own studio. According to the valid professional standard a graduate can after 5 years of professional work apply for a profession Interior Architect IV

·         is cooperative and displays initiative in executing projects and is responsible for his/her work.

·         knows professional design and art literature, and corresponding terminology.

·         can gather, analyse and critically select and find professional information and interpret it creatively.

·         recognizes interdisciplinary connections between different areas of application

·         has broad-based knowledge of interior design profession, has systematic overview of the basic concepts of the specialty, is able to formulate problems associated with the specialty, analyse them and offer solutions.

·         can elaborate professional projects proceeding from aesthetical and functional whole and Draw up professional design documentation and knows how to communicate with the members of the design team both inside and outside of the profession.

·         can find and apply the laws valid in Estonia, current building and design standards and technical norms.

·         can when designing interiors select and apply appropriate methods and technologies.

·         has mastered the communication skills necessary for the work, as well as info-and communication technologies.

·         is ready to participate actively in civil society and be tolerant towards various attitudes and values.

·         has a correct command of the language both in speaking and writing and a foreign language on communication level and that of professional terminology

·         is able to explain problems associated with the profession both orally and in writing and participate in professional discussions.

·         acts ethically concerning environment, client and the profession, can assess the role and results of his professional activity to the society.

·         is able to work both for state and private companies as an interior architect, interior designer or as a middle manager in enterprises dealing with interior design and projecting.

·         is able to perfect permanently his professional and working knowledge and to continue studies in the acquired profession.

Objectives

Develop general skills in the subject of art. Provide fundamentals of the different periods in the world’s and Estonian art history. Develop skills of orienting in the historical and modern directions of art and his/her specialty.
Learning outcomes Student can correctly estimate the historical period of a piece of art and the style. Student knows the names of spectacular artists from the history of art. Student has acquired comprehensive vocabulary, which allows to express his/her opinion in discussions about art history and his/her professional work.

Objectives

Acquisition of the fundamentals of interior engineering of private and public buildings. Mastering modern engineering and infotechnological methods. Skills of applying the theoretical knowledge in practice, possession of the modern scientific and technical terminology.
Learning outcomes Student is able to create independently the interior project for a new building or rooms to be renovated. Able to compile the necessary documentation and figures by applying infotechnological tools and computer programmes. Possesses necessary terminology.

Objectives

Provide necessary knowledge in at least one foreign language, which allows successful self-development by means of scientific and technical literature. Teach elementary communication skills on the professional level and skills to formulate his/her ideas, and to understand questions and answers in foreign language.
Learning outcomes Student is able to acquire specialty related information in the foreign language. Ability to communicate, compile documents and give orders in the foreign language. Can participate in the international events, performances, practical or continue studies abroad.

Objectives

Confirmation of the theoretical knowledge and application of the practical skills in the independent work. Getting acquainted to the organisation in the real work processes. Working with the modern computer programmes used in engineering. Work methods applied in a collective and with clients.

Learning outcomes

Student knows the stages of engineering, is able to set up the tasks, consider the interests of the client or employer. Can independently solve the artistic and technical problems of engineering. Is able to compile technical documentation. Can work in a collective, consider the critics, be tolerating to the other’s opinion. Can exploit modern infotechnological tools and computer programmes.
Assessment of module completion: credit test. The student submits the filled in report of the practicals and portfolio of the completed artworks

Principles of selection: As regards courses at liberty, the faculty recommends selecting such courses at other Faculties of EuroAcademy or other higher education institutions that support the acquisition of the major.

 

Graduation Thesis SPEN7000 Volume: 13.0 ECTS
Objectives Assessment of the knowledge acquired in the process of studies. Development of the individual and independence by selection and realisation of the subject of graduation thesis.

Learning outcomes

Independent selection of the subject and object of the graduation thesis. Ability to analyse the actuality and perspective of the interiors to be created. Ability to express and realise his/her ideas both artistically and technically, and to perform his/her work. Ability to use the modern engineering methods, incl. necessary computer programmes and infotechnological tools. Knowledge about modern interior and building materials and fundamentals of the engineering physics. Ability to plan the professional activities. Ability to adequately estimate and consider the critics of the supervisor. Ability to work with the clients.

Assessment

Graded assessment. Grade given at the defence A, B, C, D, E according to the established criteria. Assessment takes place at the public defence.
